Ok, I think I softlocked myself. After going outside and playing around, I decided to pet Xmas a second time, then try to enter the house to try and find the garage. However, when I tried to enter the house, I got out of my swimsuit. Since I NEED to be in the bathroom to change into my swimsuit, and the game prevents me from entering the house after the boat got ready, I got softlocked.
I think you should be able to continue. Nothing you need to complete the story should remain in the house. (The garage is only accessible outside.)
